Regina Faden
Regina Faden joined Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC) as Executive Director in October 2008. Since her arrival, the museum has expanded it programmatic offerings, developed a new five-year strategic plan, realigned its marketing, secured funding for several capital maintenance and building projects, and is leading an initiative to further develop the story of slavery at the museum. HSMC is affiliated with St. Mary’s College of Maryland and is a partner in the College’s Museum Studies program. Since she arrived, Regina has helped staff develop Museum Studies courses and taught Introduction to Museum Studies for two semesters.
Previously Regina served as Executive Director of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum in Hannibal, Missouri from 2004-2008 where she developed the museum’s first strategic plan, redesigned its website, initiated a $6 million capital campaign, and created its successful series of Teachers Workshops. For the past fifteen years, Faden has taught American Literature and History at such schools as Boston College, St. Louis University, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Faden received her Bachelors degree from Tufts University in English and German and earned a Masters in American Studies from Boston College. She received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Saint Louis University and then a Master’s in History with a certificate in Museum Studies from University of Missouri-St. Louis.
