Youth Interpreter Program

Historic St. Mary’s City is pleased to announce the Terra Mariae Society Youth Interpreter Program.  The program is open to home-schooled youth between the ages of eleven and seventeen who demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, a love of history, and the willingness to share these with the public.  A very limited number of youth are chosen for the program each year.  Acceptance into the program is based upon a process that is described in the Terra Mariae Information Packet.  Applications are due by Friday, February 21, 2020.

Program Description
The Terra Mariae Society Youth Interpreter Program is a unique educational opportunity striving to enrich and encourage young minds. The program provides students with an understanding of Maryland history and the 17th century. Students will also sharpen their communication skills while they interact with the public as interpreters on the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation. Students selected for the program will assist in enhancing the overall quality of Historic St. Mary’s City as a museum. The one year program requires a commitment of two days per week, three to four hours per day.
